Primordial Blob Particle System

This was a part of a research project here is the abstract:

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to create a computer particle-based simulation that exhibits various behaviors akin to real life proto-organisms that I have called the Primordial Blob Particle System (PBPS). The simulation made for the project draws on previous systems to synthesize a new simulation that combines elements from previous approaches in order to display as many life-like behaviors as possible, to maximize the emergent complexity of the system, and to minimize the rules that govern it. The findings indicate that the PBPS successfully met all design requirements. Multiple particle types could be the answer to achieve more of these behavioral goals. Emergent evolution and predatory behavior have not been achieved in PBPS or the other simulations, so there is still more research to be done both with this simulation and more artificial-life simulations.
